Identification:

-Simple leaf, 5-9 irregular lobes with bristle tips, upper surface dark green and semi-glossy, lower surface paler and glabrous
-Chocolate brown acorns with dark stripes

Note:   One of the most well adapted oaks for landscape use with relatively few insect and disease problems.  The Nuttall Oak performs well in most soil types including poorly drained clays.  Autumn color is a dull yellow and not nearly as showy as other species in the red oak group.
